Morels are Fruiting! If you don’t mind the drive and the Hunt

We have all been waiting for spring to bring us our delicious morels and it is exciting to see posts of recent harvests. Morel stashes have been found in much lower elevations than Central Oregon, at least now in early April. By using apps like iNaturalist, you can see where people have posted general fruitng areas. The elevation is still seems somewhere near or below 1,000 ft on the west side of the passes and often in the burns. Most of us will have to be patient as the soils warm and the fruiting levels climb.
